Instructional Materials
-
IAABO has put together a fine array of instructional materials for your board to assist the board interpreter in their meetings to make your members better officials by improving all aspects of their on-court performance. These materials are being given to each board free of charge and represent a value of over $500, as well as many man hours of work to assemble and distribute them.  This is another service of IAABO for its members with the continued goal of improving officiating for the games we service. Once you receive these materials it is our hope that you will utilize them. Written instructions are included on how best to incorporate them in your meeting sessions. Best wishes for a great season, use of these materials will help all of us achieve IAABO’s philosophy of “One Rule, One Interpretation”. If your board interpreter has not received the instructional materials mentioned above, please contact Donnie Eppley @ eppleyd@comcast.net.

IAABO Leisure Wear - IAABO is excited to announce that it has entered into a special arrangement with Premier Marketing Group (PMG).  PMG will design and provide leisure wear with the IAABO logo.  We have been asked by our members where they can purchase IAABO logo wear as seen at IAABO schools and at various meetings. After an extensive

search, IAABO has selected Premier Marketing Group to accommodate our needs. IAABO is constantly looking for additional streams of revenue so that dues never have to be increased (and that is our pledge to you), thus our agreement with PMG. Please be advised that this does not affect our agreement with Honig’s Whistle Stop, who is our official supplier for officiating wear and supplies.  Our relationship with Honig’s is very strong and continues to be positive for both parties. Click www.iaabogear.com to access the IAABO online store.

“Officials versus Cancer

IAABO Officials Raise Over $110,000.00 - A huge thanks to all IAABO officials who make this year’s campaign the most successful ever.  Together we raised over $110,000.00 for the Officials’ vs. Cancer campaign.  The top three states that contributed to the campaign were Colorado, Connecticut and Massachusetts.  The total amount of monies raised was over $180,000.00.  The donations benefit the American Cancer Society with all proceeds being funneled back to the local areas for their use in research and trying to find a cure.  The next campaign will be held January 23 – 29, 2012.  IAABO is leading the way in showing the world our determination to make a difference for this great cause.  Officials may donate year round.  Please make checks payable to:  Officials vs. Cancer or American Cancer Society.  Click Click here to view and print a contribution form or click on the Paypal icon to make a donation through PayPal.

Mike Hammond
Mike Hammond, 74th President of IAABO - Mike Hammond, Board No. 27, Massachusetts, was elected the 74th President of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials, Inc., on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the General Assembly Meeting of the association held at the Marriott, Tysons Corner, Virginia
Jim Young - Jim Young, member of IAABO Board 130 in Massachusetts and CBOA  and formerly of Board 21 in Maine, is known as a quiet and steady leader on the floor when he officiates a high school or college basketball game.  He always has his partners’ backs when headed into a contest and can always be counted on in the most difficult of games.
Now, at his greatest time of need, his brother and sister officials have rallied together to support him and his family.  On September 26th, while working, Jim suffered a terrible accident and was electrocuted.  He suffered significant burns to his arms, chest, and back.  Tragically, the burns he suffered have led to the removal of his left arm to his shoulder and the right arm had to be amputated half-way between his shoulder and elbow.  Through the leadership of CBOA/Eastern New England, a fund has been established at TD Bank to help Jim and his family through this difficult ordeal. Anyone interested in contributing to the fund may do so by either sending a check (payable to: Friends of Jim Young) to Rich Napolitano, 5 Osgood Place-Unit C, Amesbury, MA 01913 or by visiting any TD Bank branch location and asking to make a donation to the Friends of Jim Young Fund.”

Message of Support and Appreciation - The IAABO staff salutes the men and women of our Armed Forces! As the final stages of an exciting basketball season ended here in America, thousands of our finest sons and daughters in uniform were called to duty to a far-away land to protectand defend our cherished individual freedoms. With profound national pride, we watched in awe – hour-by-hour – how they conducted themselves with inspired courage, precision, and resolve. Their triumph in battle, although earned with great personal sacrifice, is our
collective victory. And for this, we shall never forget and will forever show our sincere gratitude. Several IAABO members are current or former members of our Armed Forces; and every IAABO member has a loved one or knows of someone that continues to serve our great nation. We are on the same team, so naturally our thoughts were always – and will continue to be – with these dedicated patriots. We at home are extremely proud of their spirit and determination, and look forward in welcoming them back to their home court. Indeed, we have much to be thankful for! God Bless America!

Tax Records - Officiating is an avocation that carries with it a need for a high level of integrity. Part of carrying out this high standard is meeting your responsibility to society, in general, by paying your taxes. IIt is equally wrong to overpay taxes and preventing overpayment begins with great records. Click here to view and print a form and instructions for keeping records.
